A Blazing Hot Grand Départ for the Tour de France

Mayenne Monbana My Pie wasted no time showing its colours on the opening stage of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. Attacking from kilometre zero, our riders delivered an aggressive performance throughout the day.

Kiara Lylyk eventually found herself caught between the breakaway and the peloton before being reeled in. Meanwhile, Fiona Mangan was the team's best finisher, crossing the line in 58th place.

The opening stage was also contested in extremely hot conditions. Tomorrow, the riders head towards Geneva for Stage 2. We will keep the same attacking mindset!

Kiara Lylyk. "I saw Allison go and thought 'ok we need to try', so I went. Maybe it wasn’t the smartest but I rather try to get our jersey seen then stay behind. Then I thought I wasn’t worth continuing to try, the break was too far. It seemed like many suffered today with the heat, I think I did also but there was too much going on to think of it. Lucky we have more days to come and hopefully we start to feel better day by day."
