Frankie secures a Top 10 in Durango

The Mayenne Monbana My Pie team continued its Spanish campaign this Tuesday at the Durango-Durango Emakumeen Saria classic, in the Basque Country. A demanding course featuring several climbs allowed Francesca Hall to claim her first Top 10 finish in the colours of the French ProTeam.

After two rather rainy Spanish races earlier this month, the sun finally appeared in Durango on Tuesday. The riders therefore competed in pleasant weather conditions on a typically Basque course. Within Mayenne Monbana My Pie, several illnesses had somewhat reduced the squad at the start. But that did not prevent some riders from showing strong form, especially Francesca Hall. The British rider, “Frankie”, looked the strongest on the final climb of the day and finished 9th. Signed by the Mayenne-based ProTeam in March, she claimed her first Top 10 finish in Mayenne Monbana My Pie colours..

Francesca Hall, 9th. "I wasn’t really sure how my legs would respond after a very busy week following La Vuelta. I’m pretty happy with the progress, and we rode really well together as a small group today. It feels good to come away with a solid result."

Damien Pommereau, sports director. "It’s a pretty good result considering the reduced squad we had today because of several illnesses. We quickly found ourselves with only three riders left in the main peloton. Kiara did a great job for Constance and Frankie, who were our protected riders today. The plan was for them to go as far as possible without making too many efforts early in the race, in order to try and follow the best riders. Kiara only just missed making it over the penultimate climb with the front group. The race was decided on the final climb, which featured some very steep sections. Frankie takes a Top 10, so it was an interesting and positive day. Next race in Burgos on Thursday, with WorldTour-level competition. It will definitely be another step up."
