The Tour of Catalonia came to an end this Sunday in Barcelona. After finishing 8th on Saturday's queen stage to La Molina, Karolina Perekitko moved up one place in the general classification to secure 7th overall.

During the final stage, victory was decided in a sprint finish. This time, Mayenne Monbana My Pie did not enjoy the same success as in the opening stage. After placing 5th on Friday, Kiara Lylyk finished 18th, just behind Justine Gegu in 17th. Nevertheless, the French ProTeam can be pleased with its performances during the first two stages and with a strong overall result, despite the high temperatures currently affecting Europe.

Karolina Perekitko, 7th overall. "Our goal was to move up in the general classification for me and also to go for the sprint with Kiara and Justine. We worked really well together and helped each other to make sure we had enough bottles and ice. The final was very hectic and nervous, but I stayed focused and was able to gain one place in the overall standings. Of course, I aim for more, but I’m happy to see that my climbing level is improving and that step by step I’m getting stronger. Overall, we had a very good Tour. We were a small team but with big hearts, and every day we fought to take the best of it. The girls helped me a lot. Special thanks also to our staff, who worked incredibly hard behind the scenes".

Damien Pommereau, sports director : “Yesterday (Saturday), Karo finished 8th on the stage, in the group fighting for 4th place. On the final climb, she delivered a strong performance. There were several attacks and she responded to many of them. She had really good legs. Unfortunately, a group came back from behind and some riders she had dropped managed to pass her again at the finish line. We deserved a little bit more, but finishing 8th is anyway a good result. Kiara, Justine and Constance did everything they could to support her while they were still in the group. Today (Sunday), we didn’t achieve the sprint result we had hoped for, but Karo moved up one position in the general classification to finish 7th overall. It’s a great Top 10 result in an important race.”
