The Mayenne Monbana My Pie team lined up at the Giro dell’Appennino this Sunday. Marine Allione and Karolina Perekitko finished 22nd and 23rd respectively, in a chasing group behind the favourites.

The day after Milan–San Remo, the women’s peloton faced a demanding, hilly course. Two particularly tough climbs were on the menu, and it was on the second one, just over 20 kilometres from the finish, that the race was decided. The strongest riders broke away at the front, all coming from top-tier teams. Behind them, Mayenne Monbana My Pie secured 22nd and 23rd places through Marine Allione and Karolina Perekitko. The collective effort throughout the weekend from their teammates — Constance Valentin, Kiara Lylyk, Alice Coutinho and Francesca Hall — also deserves to be highlighted.

Marine Allione, 22nd : My legs weren’t quite as good as yesterday. I found myself with Karo just behind the favourites’ group. We tried to bridge across so we could contest the sprint at the finish, but we never managed to make it back. There was a headwind. We had a strong team today, we worked well together and it was really enjoyable.”

Jean-Christophe Barbotin, manager of Mayenne Monbana My Pie : “Today, with heavy legs from yesterday, we were not supposed to go for the breakaway because I knew it wouldn’t go all the way. The riders worked well together up to the foot of the main climb. Karolina and Marine once again showed their strength — at the moment, they are our two best riders when the road goes uphill. We’re wrapping up a solid block with two very high-level races. I’m happy with the team, but if we improve our positioning, we will achieve better results."
