The Mayenne Monbana My Pie team was not intimidated by the Giant of Provence. This Friday, Mont Ventoux served as the decisive challenge of Stage 7 of the Tour de France Femmes, a day that the French ProTeam had specifically targeted.
Fiona Mangan was part of the day's breakaway, which was eventually caught at the foot of the climb. Karolina Perekitko then finished 33rd at the summit. Marine Allione also delivered a strong performance, taking 38th place after being enthusiastically cheered on by numerous supporters throughout the final ascent. Unfortunately, the team also had to deal with the withdrawal of Kiara Lylyk before the start of the stage.
Fiona Mangan: “The atmosphere was really amazing and I was able to enjoy it. I was in a breakaway last year as well, but I was completely exhausted. This time, I could really appreciate the moment. We gave it everything, and I really wanted to make it to the top. It was a fantastic experience. I could hear people cheering everywhere, there were Irish flags along the road, and it was brilliant.”
